| Ok folks would love some help with this problem which is driving me mad.
| Win xp sp2. USB 1.1 built in and 2.o on pci card
|
| A few weeks ago I tried to plug a new thumb drive in and it was not
| recognised and what ever I did I could not get it to load drivers. Not
from
| any location or cd. If I plug an existing and already installed device
into
| another USB port it will also not work and be unrecognised. I have
manually
| installed new drivers but when I direct the USB device to it through
device
| manger it will not see it. Its like windows has lost its ability to see
the
| USB drivers even though they are clearly there??
|
| have practically worn my fingers out googling and still not any nearer to
| fixing it? please help
|
Go to Control Panel/Administrative Tools Computer Management /Disk
Management(with the device plugged in )
You should see your USB device
Right click on it & go to "change drive letter & paths"
Assign it a different drive letter than what it is.
Sounds like you have a cd or dvd drive that has already been assigned to the
same drive letter that the USB device is trying to take.
