I have 1GB RAM and the virtual memory setting is 2.5GB, but I find some
programs won't start and I get Not enough memory errors when only around
780mb of VM is used!
Since this has only just started and I have already removed some programs
from Start-up I am thinking there is a problem.
Does anyone have any idea why my full 2.5GB of VM is not used?
Thank-you

What are the exact contents of the error message (verbatim please) and
what are the circumstances that cause this error message to appear?
Some error messages can be quite obtuse and there are instances where
two quite similar error messages can have entirely different causes
and cures. Sometimes it is the presence or the absence of a single
word in the text of an error message that is the essential clue as to
exactly what error condition we are dealing with.
The more precise and complete your information is, the better the
chances that a fix can be found.
Good luck
