How to uninstall VIA bus master IDE controller

I'm getting ready to swap motherboards and want to revert to the Microsoft
standard IDE controller. I cannot seem to uninstall the VIA busmaster
driver. If I try to uninstall from the Control Panel, when the machine
reboots it goes out and finds it again and reinstalls it. It won't let me
roll back the driver because there's nothing to roll back to. Can I just
delete all the VIA files from the \system32\drivers folder? Will that force
XP to use the standard MS driver?

Btw, I have tried to install the VIA driver with the VIA setup program and
then select uninstall from the option menu but that didn't work either.

Thanks for the help.
