Suddenly, when I view the thumbnails of my photos in My Pictures with
Windows
Explorer, each thumbnail has an annoying Internet Explorer logo on it,
practically obscuring the entire thumbnail. The logo is the blue "e" with
the gold swish.

How did this happen? And how can I go back to plain thumbnails showing
just the small version of the photo?
