shared. However, if I create a new folder in My Documents, the private
checkbox is checked and I can't share this folder. What makes this

XP Home does not permit sharing of users' home directories (My Documents) or Program Files, but you can share folders inside those directories. A better choice is to simply use the Shared Documents folder. You are having difficulties because you are trying to share resources in areas not normally allowed by your operating system.
