Your assumption is incorrect. It will not overwrite the actual
profile.

Do you ACTUALLY logon as "administrator"? Is that your username?

Next time - use something like CrapCleaner to clean up your
unneeded files. As long as you have administrative privs, it should
do the job fine... (not to mention, as long as you had
administrative privs - you could have done the job fine as
yourself... Just cleared out the Temporary Internet Files in IE
itself, shrank the size it could grow to something more reasonable
(under 128MB should be fine) and moved on...)

Since you mentioned 'Safe Mode, logon as administrator' --> Can I
assume you have Windows XP Home Edition?
Service Pack level?
Can you logon in safe mode as your user?

I am sorry for multi-posting. I have not used Usenet in many years.

When I am not in Safe Mode, the option for "Administrator" does not
appear, just my full name. According to user accounts, my account
has admin privileges.

The reason I had to get access to the files in Content.IE5 was
because I found out that they were the things taking up so much
disk space. The TIF in "regular mode" had only a few hundred KB
worth of files, while the TIF hidden in the Content folder was a
few gigs' worth. I am hurting for disk space.

If you think it is because you 'took ownership' away from your own user -
use the same instructions and change it back... Give ownership back to your
username as well as make sure your user has full control (security tab
again, permissions - FULL) over the entire documents and settings\username
directory...
