anyone know how to reset permissions for the removable storage section

Well, I haven't tried it yet, but you can use gpedit.msc via Run menu or
Command Prompt.
Go to User Configuration -> Administrative Templates -> Windows Components ->
Microsoft Management Comnsole -> Restricted/Permitted snap-ins.
There are some stuffs you can configure. And there is also Removable Storage
Management
That's not the same thing. I actually set the permissions to deny, in
the mmc for removable storage itself. Stopping the removable storage
service and deleting the files seems to fix the problem and clear the
database. Thanks for the help.
