Hi All,
Windows XP professional is failing to boot and reports the error:
"\windows\system32\c_1252.nls is missing or corrupt"
Microsoft's KnowledgeBase Article 830088 prescribes a fix that
commences
with running "chkdsk /r" from the recovery console, which reports:
"The Volume appears to contain one or more unrecoverable problems"
Any command I try within the Recovery Console responds with "There isFrom that point on I cannot perform any more corrective measures.
no CD
or Floppy Disk in the Drive"???
Of course there is a CD in the drive, I had to boot off the Windows XP
with Dell Recovery disk.
I even get the no CD or Floppy Disk with a DIR command
Please Help.

It sounds like your disk structure is corrupt. Here are a couple
of ways to resolve the problem:
- Perform a new installation of Windows, allowing your disk to be formatted.
- Boot the machine with a Bart PE boot disk, then use xcopy.exe to copy
the system partition to an external USB disk. Later on you can format
the system partition and reverse the copy process.
The first method involves the total loss of all programs and all data.
The second method is unlikely to involve any data loss but requires
some time and effort to make a Bart PE boot disk. Post again if
you need further instructions.
