Let me try this again:
Two XP Dell desktops plugged into a Linksys WRT54G router to share the IP
address. On Dell#1 I installed HP 5610 printer, connected through a USB
port.
I have 'shared' this printer by selecting the printer Share radio button.
On
Dell#2, I select Add new printer=>Network=>Browse. I wait for the list to
come up and see the printer installed on Dell#1. I select it, press Next
and
get "Cannot find this printer. Make sure the name is typed correctly" or
something like that. I should note that the name of the installed printer
in
the displayed list after pressing Browse is doubled; in other words, I see
\\(Dell#1)\HP Officejet 5600 series HP Officejet 5600 series
the name is listed twice.
When I go to Dell#1 and select Control Panel=> Printers, I see
HP Officejet 5600 series
I have disabled both firewalls, have checked the TCP/IP for printer
sharing
exceptions.
I am stumped.
Have you got the SAME user set up on both machines? (IE with the identical
username and Password?)
