uninstall explorer?

Tech-Archive recommends: Fix windows errors by optimizing your registry

I've been advised by Quicken tech support to uninstall
and then reinstall my internet explorer.
But when I go to Add/RemovePrograms, the Explorer is
not listed?
I'm running IExplorer ver 6.0 sp2 on XP.
Any ideas?
