Where there any updates installed from Windows Updates right before the
problem started? If so remove them through add/remove programs then do a
System Restore to before they were installed. If no updates then try a
System Restore.

Yes, I think there was, I don't remember what, where can I find them
to uninstall them?

In his last paragraph, Rock said this could be done via "add/remove programs."

Specifically,

Start | Control Panel | Add or Remove Programs

Scroll down to "Windows XP - Software Updates." You'll see a whole mess of 'em. :-)
