I have just re-installed XP professional upgrade (from XP Home) and SP2
and
noticed that the notifications for new e-mails no longer show on the
bottom
as a small window that dissolves. Insted, the typical alert appears
without
indicating who the sender is.

Does anyone know how to set XP Professional to display new e-mails the "XP
professional way"?

"XP Professional" doesn't HAVE email notifications. It depends on what Email
client you are using. Which is?
