Newbie Coder,
Basically, unless it comes from Microsoft/Symantec... you cannot guarantee that any site is safe
What about other companies such as McAfee/Grisoft et al? Why do you think that the programs from other sites are not safe..That's the question.
Just because Kelly has provided a certain amount of posts in a year
AFAIK, MS does not simply provide the MVP award based only on the quantity, but also based on the quality of the posts, and the reputation they gained over the year(s). Saying HELLO to every post does not get you an MVP award. If you want to be trusted, start your own website, gain the reputation as a good helper among the folks here and make your apps available on your site if you want. You don't even have to be an MVP to do that.
but it doesn't mean they are trustworthy, does it?
Going by your own rule, how do you expect users to trust your code/program when posted on newsgroups? Again, I'm not saying that your programs are malicious, but just wanted to say that you don't seem to follow your own rules.

Ramesh,

Many users link people to Kelly's Corner for example, but unless you know
the registry & can examine the registry file I wouldn't click on any of
them. Just because Kelly has provided a certain amount of posts in a year
means that MVP status is almost a certainty, but doesn't mean that
everything can be trusted.
I could say HELLO to every post in this newsgroup & get my stats up, but
what for? Anyone can do the same & get MVP status but it doesn't mean they
are trustworthy, does it?

safe.Everything I have said is the truth & all application i write are 100%
Even the author of a malware would give the same assurance, Newbie.
2 days back you said:
<quote>
I don't recommend you download & run something that isn't proved to be safe
Someone has to be the first to try it
Because its an exe on a website doesn't prove that its genuine...
</quote>
Then how come you attach binaries in the newsgroup and claim it to be safe?
Your app might be legitimate/non-malicious, but you got to prove it yourself
first (going by your own logic).

Terry,
I have been using newsgroups for many, many, many years. I had a short break
I know & came back with the username I use now & for the past year & a bit.
This is because I left coding for around 8-9 months
Everything I have said is the truth & all application i write are 100% safe.
I am sure if you could code & wanted to go that extra step to help the user
you would too. That's all I am doing with creating small applications for
someone
