On 5/9/2007 7:54 PM On a whim, Abradaxis pounded out on the keyboard
After installing Microsoft's latest automatic update (KB93M68) for Windows XP Version 7, and restarting, I was no longer able to install certain programs (in this case Java), since I continued to receive the message that I did not have access to the needed files (I am the admin, and the only user on a standalone PC). The problem is critical, preventing me from updating and using one of my main apps, E*Trades Market Trader. I could only undo the damage by uninstalling the fix (dated May 9 I believe) through the control panel. The problem happened on my laptop, but the same fixes, applied to my desktop, caused no such problems. Using MS XP SP2 with all the latest updates (minus the last one, obviously), I would appreciate any corroboration of this problem, and a fix, if possible. Thanks in advance. Abradaxis.
Hi Abradaxis,
I think you mean KB931768. If so, uninstall the patch, using Add/Remove Programs. Many reported similar issues yesterday.
