Joining Archive

I downloaded one file, splitted to few files, with names FILE.zip.001, FILE.zip.002, FILE.zip.003
They downloaded OK (I assume), but what's with the three-numbered extensions after the .zip? Not clear, what program has been used to split this files and how to join this archive?
