| Based on my knowledge, the maximum amount of memory that can be supported
| on Windows XP Professional is 4 GB. However, the virtual address space of
| processes and applications is still limited to 2 GB by default, aother
2GB
| memory is allocated to kernel. This is why Windows XP only shows 2GB of
the
| memory.
|
| We can use the /3GB switch in the boot.ini file to force Windows XP to
| allocate 3 GB of virtual address space to programs and 1 GB to the kernel.
