For security reasons I always turn off the Preview pane in OE, but when I
do
that on my new notebook running XP Pro, it turns it back on the next time
I
start up OE. In fact, none of the layout changes are saved. XP Pro
(SP2)
was pre installed on my machine, and I imported my address book and
messages
from my previous notebook. I presume that a configuration file is missing
but I can't find it (Or is it a Registry setting?) Any suggestions?
It might be a security program blocking the Registry changes it needs to
make. A few of the programs now doing this are:
Ad-aware's Ad-Watch
McAfee VirusScan and/or Antispyware
Norton AV
Spyware Blaster
Spybot> Tools> IE Tweaks
Spybot- Teatimer
Spysweeper
Windows Defender
Zone Alarm (free) 6.5 Reported to be fixed in later versions.
In the case of Zone Alarm 6.5 it actually has to be uninstalled. Make sure
the Windows Firewall is turned on until you reinstall Zone Alarm.
Boot into Safe Mode with Networking with Networking and try the changes.
