Re: balloon "pop" sound all the time

If you are not able to find the cause of the problem, you can workaround
temporarily by switching off the balloon pop noise:

Start > Control Panel > Sounds and Audio Devices > Sounds (tab) > Program
events - System Notification > set to (none)

My machine keeps making that irritating balloon-tip "pop" noise every 40
seconds or so. Balloon-tips are disabled. I have nothing running in the
background that shouldn't be. This is driving me insane.

Any ideas as to how to stop it (short of disabling all system sounds,
that's not acceptable)?
