Hi Linda,
The manual for the 8200 *does not* specify whether the machines still
running or not. IF NOT, the only way to shut down your computer is to log
off Windows first, then select "shutdown", and after a period of time it
will tell you it's safe to shut off your computer, or it will automatically
shut off the power switch.

If I close the monitor to my laptop does it shutoff the monitor and leave
the
computer running? It is a Dell Inspiron 8200.
