Hi,
When you get it recognised, see how it looks by opening Computer Management
in Administrative tools - go to the Disk Management icon.
Depending on your love of the supplied software from Seagate - you can
probably not use any of it.
Just format it as a primary NTFS partition using the above Disk Management
tool.
Assign a drive letter further away like "S:" by using the same tool (right
click on the drive graphic).
It may now be remembered properly.

I installed a seagate freeagent 250gb external harddrive and at first
installation it was recognezed and called drive f. After a shut down and
or
restart/boot it is not recognized and an error comes up saying that one of
the usb devices installed has malfunctioned. I had my system tested and
also
the external harddrive. All was declared in great working order but when
I
returned home and reinstalled the external harddrive it was again
recognized
and again after a shutdown and reboot it was not recognized again. When
it
was tested it worked in all the usb ports. I am going nuts trying to get
this external hard drive to get recognized and stay that way. Does anyone
have suggestions?
