A few days ago I lost ALL sound. I restored back to a previous date and all
sound came back. Tonight, it all disappeared again. Restoring once again
gave sound back.

Is there some other way to cure this?

Please, if you're providing step by step instructions, make them simple--I
can find my way around but I'm no pro at it.

What things are you doing between when the sound is working and when it doesn't? What changes were made, what programs run?

Is the system clean of malware? How do you check for that?
