Re: Desktop to Laptop - remote access and sending messages

Hi - sorry for my initial display. I have tried the attached but this is all
new to me! If you can help further with how to do this then I would be very
grateful. Many thanks again.

Post again if you need more help but please don't wait
nearly three weeks. This thread is about to disappear
from my newsreader's horizon.

Hi and thank you for your response. I want to send a pop-up message but
not
sure how I can do this? Could you explain for me if possible?

Hi,

I have a desktop and a laptop both running Windows XP. Both are on a
wireless network to access the internet and I can am able to share
files
between them both.

What I would like to do is access the desktop from the laptop and vice
versa
- for example, if I am upstairs and I want to send a message to
someone
using
the laptop downstairs - how can I send a message to the console so
that a
message flashes up on their screen? I have tried all sorts of ways
and
believe that this is possible but I can not find an easy way! Please
help!

Do you want to "access" the other PC, i.e. take it over, or do you want
to create a pop-up message on its screen? That's two radically different
things.

You can take over the other PC with Remtoe Desktop but only if it
runs WinXP Professional.

You can create a pop-up message with the "net send" command,
provided that the receiving PC runs the "messenger service".
