Hello E
The "hanging" behaviour you're seeing sounds a bit odd, but perhaps one
of these suggestions might help.
1. You can change the default download folder for IE this way:
Open Regedit and navigate to the key
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer
Look in the right-hand pane for the value Download Directory and change
it to the new path you want as default. If you don't already have the
Download Directory entry, create it as a String value.
2. If you want to save a particular file elsewhere than your default
folder, instead of clicking the download link on the web page,
right-click and choose Save Target As. You should then see the Save As
dialog and can choose the destination you want.
Hope this helps :-)

When I want to save a file that I am downloading from the net, Windows
Explorer opens but hangs because it is processing the folder structure
of my drive.
My issue is I dont want it to decide (or predict) where I want to put
the file because it always opens my profile folder where I store
nothing.
A further annoyance is when it stops hanging, lets me choose a folder,
then suddenly shows the folder it 'predicts' ide like to save the
file. I then have to renavigate to the folder I originally selected to
download to.
Sometimes I end up dragging and dropping a folder accidentally because
my mousebutton was clicked down as explorer auto-navigates to the
location it thinks I want to save the file to.
Is there anyway to tell Explorer to stop trying to guess where I want
to put a folder and/or tell it to persist where I want to save things.
Or is this an Internet Explorer issue? I assumed Windows Explorer
since Internet Explorer seems to embed Windows Explorer when selecting
to download location. But correct me if i'm wrong.
Thanks'

Thanks for the registry path. That is likely all I need.
The hang is probably because i'm impatient so it may not be unusual to
most.
Thanks again
