Our laptop was not updated with the XP SP2 and when I couldn't get the online
download to work I sent for the CD directly from Microsoft. Installed it as
soon as I received it and everything appeared to go fine. However, and
please forgive my terminology...I am NOT very computer savvy...now the dang
thing won't start up! I keep getting a black screen apologizing for the
inconvenience, blah, blah and advising me that windows will restart.
However, it keeps cycling between this screen and the Windows XP screen and
never actually loads. If I can ever get it to load again, I plan on
UNinstalling the stupid service pack update that I thought was going to be
such a great thing!!!

Did it boot and run after installing SP2 and then after some subsequent reboot the problem occurred, or did it happen right away?
