Newbie Coder,
I appreciate your interest, and thoughtful consideration of my
question. After finding that another computer I have could access these
newsgroups, I began looking for my problem in IE Properties. I didn't find
any! But....for no apparent reason, I'm now able to view the newsgroup again
using the web newsreader interface! I can't say why, but it just began
working again. Life is good again.
Thank you,
Milt

Milt,.
Have you set a filter or searched on a specific user?
Are you talking about viewing this at home or at work?
Is there any additional information you can tell this post in order for us
to help you?
Gordon,
The OP specifically asked not to point him/her to using OE as the
newsreader. See?
"Please don't tell me that I should use the Outlook Express newsreader."
I use a corporate firewall & I can use the web based or OE to read
newsgroups without problems

I normally read this M/S newsgroup, "Windows XP General", using the web
based newsreader.
Why? (unless you are behind a corporate firewall....)you would find it far
far better "experience" by dumping the horrible web interface and using a
proper news reader instead. You already have one on your machine - Outlook
Express prior to Windows Vista and Windows Mail and News in Vista.
See this on how to set up Outlook express as your news reader: (I expect
Windows mail and News is horribly similar....)
How to set up OE as a News reader:

Can someone please tell me why I can no longer read them?
(Please don't tell me that I should use the Outlook Express newsreader.
I'm familiar with it and sometimes use it. But I find the web based
more convenient.)
OE will do things that you have never DREAMT of in the web access......
