By the list I meant the list of services. Once again thanks!

Which list?
Apparently Microsoft is pretty proud of the DCOM Server Process Launcher
service. With SP1 I had every DCOM thing that I could have Disabled and had
no problems. With SP2 having the DCOM Server Process Launcher service
disabled causes many problems.

* The builtin defrag will fail to work, and if running defrag from the
command line one gets this error:

* System Information (MsInfo32) will fail to work and give this error:

* If Windows Firewall is enabled, then it will fail to start and all
incomming traffic will be blocked. More Info MS KB 892199

* Disk Management will fail and give this error:

Wesley, forget about the question I placed in my previous message. All my
problems seems to have vanished by your suggested fix! But how did that
happen? I did not disable the DCOM. How do I get more info in regards to
the rest of the stuff disabled in that list, meaning which should and
which one should not be disabled. I am happy though that my problem is
solved. Thanks again for your kind assistance!

Wesley, thanks buddy! That did it. I am back in business.
I hope you don't mind me tell you about another problems I am having.
That is I can not install anything now. I get the message: "The windows
Installer Service could not be accessed. This can occur if you are
running Windows in safe mode, or if the Windows Installer is not
correctly installed. Contact your support personnel for assistance." Is
this related to my earlier problem? Many thanks in advance! I do not
running Windows in safe mode.

Nothing happens when clicking on Defragment or Analyze in Disk
Defragmenter (dfrg.msc).
With XP SP2 the DCOM Server Process Launcher service needs to be
running for Defrag to work.
Open Services...
Start | Run | Type: services.msc | Click OK |
Scroll down to and double click DCOM Server Process Launcher |
Set the startup type to Automatic | Click Apply |
Click the Start button | When the service starts, click OK |
Close Services | Reboot

How large is the hard drive and how much free space does it have?
