Here is the problem:
My laptop will not boot into Windows XP.
When I try booting from a Windows XP CD- after I get the
message "press any key to boot from CD" and
press any key, the CD drive runs for about 5 seconds then
stops and all I get is a blank screen. I know the CD is good.
I can use it one another computer.
I have heard that resetting CMOS can fix this problem. I took
apart my laptop but I can not find the battery.
I also think it might be the CD drive. But before I spend money
on the drive I want to see if resetting the CMOS helps.

Anyone know how I can locate the CMOS battery on my HP Pavilion zv5200
motherboard. I do not have a diagram.
It's the only thing on the motherboard that is about the size, shape, and
color of of a US quarter.
Are you planning on changing it? Why? What makes you think it's bad? If
your clock is running slow, first take note of whether you are losing time
while the computer is running or while it's powered off. If it's while
powered off, the problem *is* very likely the battery. But if it's while
running, it can *not* be the battery, because the battery isn't used while
the computer is running.
