I did a clean install of XP on what was previously the boot drive (SATA -
W2000 Pro) of my box. There was/is another drive...was "F"... that was set
as a master on the IDE channels containing an older W2000 Pro setup.
Xp installed fine on my SATA drive after reformatting...but...now when I
start if the XP cd is not in the bay...I get a system boot
failure...?...and...if it is...I get a choice for booting on a dos
screen...new XP or old (Drive F) W2000 ?
Also...I just noticed that my main drive...the SATA...is configured as drive
"D"...and the older backup W2000 drive is now Drive "C" in the XP system ?
How do I get rid of the dual boot option...which I didn't want nor realize
was being isntalled...and switch the drive letters so "D" (new XP clean
install) is now C and hopefully will boot ok without the XP CD in the tray ?
Thanks, Tim
Boot into the BIOS and remove the old drive from the list of boot devices.
