Hi:
When I unplug or turn off a USB device, Windows XP plays the wave file 'Windows XP Hardware Remove.WAV'.
Sometimes, it also plays when no USB device is attached to the computer. I've also heard this file play at times when the system is idle and no applications are running.
Does anybody know what this means?

Hi Mark,
It's a stretch, but possibly a web mail client (like Yahoo) has now used that sound file as a mail notifier? First check your sound events and see if you can locate it. If it's not associated there then I would suspect a program like I mentioned above.
