Sounds like the index to saved views might be full & the views are being deleted to make room for others. The attached zip file contains a script that will report on the maximum number of views that can be saved, the current number of index entries, & the actual # of saved views. Run the script & post back the results, please.

Ever since I got used to the old "program manager" back in 3.1, I have
always set up a WE folder which would open on boot & contain shortcuts for
frequently used programs. I then set up sub folders for different
categories of programs, and I can toggle to the open folder easily to select
programs. I find this more convenient than using the desktop or start menu.
This has always worked fine, but for some reason recently this programs folder & the
3 sub folders it contains keeps losing their "icons" view setting, instead
defaulting to "details". I've reset it repeatedly, but on each boot I have
to set each folder again. Also, the "Remember each folder's view settings" under
"tools/folder options/view" is already selected for the folders in
question. Can't imagine why this has changed, how might I
get it top remember to open in "icon" mode?
TIA
Dan
