Re: Scrolling with SP2 installed

Tech-Archive recommends: Repair Windows Errors & Optimize Windows Performance

I installed SP2 for XP (Home) and now, when I scroll down a page, it isn't a smooth scroll, it jumps and overlaps. The screen with text and/or picturesdoes a sort of wave as in the ocean. It isn't smooth like it was before installation. This is the third time I've installed SP2 and have gotten the same results. I thought I did something wrong before, or changed a setting etc. This time I took my time and carefully watched each step with the same results. I did a system restore to a previous day the other two times, but I want to try to figure out what's what wiht this. Is there a setting that SP2 changed in the display? or refresh? or video driver? or ????? I am stumped and some IT and tech support guys where I work don't have any ideas either. Any ideas? Any help would be greatly appreciated. It doesn't affect performance, the screen scrolls, but it irks because it isn't a smooth scrool anymore.

Install updated drivers for your video card. Never get drivers from Windows Update. Get them from:

1. The device mftr.'s website; OR
2. The motherboard mftr.'s website if hardware is onboard; OR
3. The OEM's website for your specific machine if you have an OEM computer (HP, Dell, Sony, etc.).

Read the installation instructions on the website where you get the drivers.

To find out what hardware is in your computer:

1. Read any documentation you got when you bought the computer.
2. If the computer is OEM, go to the OEM's website for your specific model machine and look at the specs (you'll be there to get the drivers anyway)
3. Download, install and run a free system inventory program like Belarc Advisor. The older Aida32 is good for this, too.
