Are you comparing apple to apple? In other words, are all machines inNo, there are different programs on each machine. The one in question has
question loading the same startup programs, etc...

Hi all,
XP Pro SP2, all patches and updates.
On one of my machines, I've noticed that the icons in the notification
area are much slower to load than on my other machines. I've run all
scans (Windows Defender, Adaware, Spybot and F-Secure) and all is clean.
All unnecessary processes and start up programs have been disabled in
MSCONFIG.
Is there a way to 'speed up' the loading of these icons? Thanks for any
replies.
the fewest and is the most powerful machine, so 'should' be at least as
quick to load the icons, which are:
Windows Defender
EMU 0404 (soundcard)
F-Secure Internet Security
I understand that the programs are not active until the icon appears - is
that generally correct?
