Curt,
I replaced, with some hesitation, the battery and all is fine. Thanks for
your help. I am very appreciative.

Andy

Curt,
Thanks for your reply. Is that something I can replace? I have a Dell
Dimension 2350 using XP.

Andy

Hi Andy,
*If* your BIOS settings are changing by themselves, it's time to replace
the
battery on the motherboard.

Thanks for your reply Joe. It does boot up fine when I install Norton
Ghost
10.0 emergency boot disk. I have never been prompted to press F12 but I
have
gone to the setup screen. Next time I boot and still have the same
issue I
will go to the setup instead to see if I am booting from the network.
Is there anything I can do once I'm up and connected?
Thanks and Regards,
Andy

Does the computer boot fine if you press F1?
Broadcom is a large manufacturer of ethernet adapter chipsets,
commonly
used
in PCs by Dell and other manufacturers.
It looks like your PC is set to try to boot from the network before
booting
from the hard disk. You can change this by entering the setup when
your
PC
turns on (there should be some sort of notification onscreen to press
F12
or
something to enter Setup).
