might add and you've dropped that good practice in *this* post - I'll
respond.
A. Regarding your posting "style":
This is Usenet and certain conventions have grown up over the years, not
just because of politeness (although that is good) but because Usenet
posts are archived and when you post incorrectly - like not quoting -
you break the thread and make it difficult for others to follow. There
are real, valid reasons for Usenet conventions.
Think of your behavior on Usenet as if you were visiting a foreign
country. You can take the time to learn about that country's customs
and try to respect them, or you can be a total a**h*le and ignore them.
If you choose the latter way, don't expect the natives to be nice to
you.
So, again - here are links to help you learn about Usenet.

B. The content of your posts:
You have not given good technical advice. If you don't know the answer,
don't post. Lurk for a while and learn. Or research the problem
thoroughly. Then post. One of the advantages to newsgroups is peer
review. If I get something wrong or incomplete, I can count on someone
correcting me. This is a Good Thing for me - because I learn something
- and for the OP because it helps insure they get accurate advice. If
you post drivel, you can expect to be called on it. For instance,
telling OP's to use SFC /scannow for a myriad of completely unrelated
problems is drivel. If you were a nicer person and posted correctly, I
would have been nicer to you instead of calling it "drivel". See the
last bit of Part A for clarification if you need it.
It is your choice how you behave, but your behavior in this venue has
consequences.
