A user with a company laptop has been logging on, using the local
computer account.
I need to get him logging on to the domain.
I figured I could log on with his domain\user accout, log out & back
in as local or domain admin & copy his local profile to domain
profile, but the option is grayed out.
I then tried to copy contents of the doc & settings\user folder to doc
& settings\domain.user folder, but even logged in as local or domain
admin, it's telling me "Access Denied".
Why is this not working & is there A) a way to make it work, or B) an
easier way to accomplish this?
Thanks-
You must reboot the machine before you can access his profile folder.
Actually, I found out that the user had changed the permissions on his
doc & settings folder to only allow system & his local account access
to the folder.
Is there any risk to changing the permissionss back, or can I restore
them to the default settings?
You can change them to anything you like, as long as the user's account
and the System account have access to the folder.
