thanks for your input. i have tried to remove aol before from other computers. it is not fun.
is it really possible that the software is locking up the computers? even though the computer freezes when aol isnt running?
i would guess aol connectivity service is one of the problems?
a removal of aol is the answer?

If AOL works, it isn't the hardware ... I tried AOL once and ran into the same problems and it only got fixed with a clean install.

AOL software is proprietary and unfortunately you will have to live with it. If you would like to have normal working access with your computers then I suggest that you remove your AOL software and change to a different ISP(Internet service provider). To remove AOL completely from your system involves a complete clean re-install since that software has taken over most if not all of your Windows system.
