Upgrading 98SE to XP went so well I'm going to upgrade ME, too, so I
ordered XP Home directly from Microsoft.
XP Home at epp.microsoft.com (requires codes to get in) is called
"standard" instead of the usual "upgrade" or "full" version. Which
version will it be? It will get here in a few weeks and I will find out
for sure, but meantime I hope somebody can clear up the discrepancy.
Both upgrade and full versions can be used to upgrade from ME to XP, so
from that standpoint it doesn't really matter which it is.
Based on the product code on the epp site for this (N09-00984) this is the
full version, meaning you can either use it to upgrade a previous version
of Windows, or you can install it on a PC that currently has no operating
system on it.
