I am using Norton Ghost 8.2 to build imag file. I have try more than 4
time to restore ghost image on same hard disk(old hard disk). Today, I
try to retore Ghohst image to new Hard Disk.
New Hard disk can boot into login dialog. After login, system try to
login out. Then return to login dialog again. Do you know why ? This
proble same at Saft mode.
Probably? You should not assume, but I think you are right.
Usually, I will select Partition to Image file. When restore just From
image file.
Old hard disk C drive (Partition) have 46GB, while New hard disk C
drive have 60GB.
It's the partition size that matters, not the amount of data or the overall
disk size. If the partition in the image (which includes slack and empty
space) is larger than the empty partition you are sending it to, then it
will fail, but usually with an understandable error message.
I think I would uninstall and reinstall Ghost as the first thing to do.
Then make sure the size of the partition that was imaged is smaller or equal
to the available space on the drive you want the image to be placed on. In
other words, there is MORE space available on the new drive than there was
on the old drive that the parition was made from.
If this isn't clear, come on back and try explaining what happens. Someone
will be able to help, I am sure. Or if I have confused you I'll try
explaining better; I can see English is not your native language.

Thank. I try to Disk to Disk Copy using Ghost. It takes One hours to
complete.
Now, OK. My new Hard disk can boot and login.
In fact, I try to format my new hard disk under Window XP. New drive
letter assigned ( G:).Then Build c: image to harddisk, the restore it
to New Drive.
Mark New Hard disk Active and Primary. Then try to using New Drive to
boot as the same time, disconnected the cable to old hard disk.
This case My New hard disk can not able to login.
Then try to connect the cable again(old hard disk). Then can able to
login and goto desktop. But SystemDrive and other changed to G: not
C:
SystemDrive=G:
SystemRoot=G:\WINDOWS
I think Window XP try to get C: setting. As a result, can not able to
login.
