I know reg cleaners are more bad than good and I cant use system restore, I
just need to know where in the registry the infomation that was lost actually
is stored so I can use an old registy to fix it.
And the reg cleaner doesn't have an undo function? Sorry I don't know the keys. Maybe someone else will jump in here. I am curious why is system restore not available.
I keep system restore running, though I have limited the amount of space allocated to it, SR is only good going back 1 or at most two weeks.
I also use ERUNT to make a daily backup of the registry. If set up properly a backup of the registry can be restored from the recovery console. It's worthwhile to have redundant/overlapping recovery mechanisms. As another protection I regularly image the drives using Acronis True Image Home version 10, saving the images on an external USB connected hard drive.
