I have created an icon for one of my internet shortcuts, but every so often,
the displayed icon (stored on the desktop) will change, and I have to change
it back. What is causing this behavior, and how can I get the displayed icon
to remain the way that I set it?
Those are favicons, kept in the Temporary Internet Files cache and when that is cleared the icon is lost. See this.
