Trying to minimize time from power on to desktop. I have XP Pro on a new
Toshiba S3 with 2Gb memory. Would appreciate guidance on this and on how to
capture and restore registry if needed.

How long is it taking to boot now? The main way is to disable unnecessary start up programs (post back if you need help with that), or just turn on the computer, get your coffee, come back and it's ready to go.
