Hi John,
Be careful. Duplicate file finder relies on CRC check sum which is not
unique and will result in FALSE duplicates. Even as advanced as MD5
hash function, there is collision: http://support.reasonablesw.com/forums/94/ShowPost.aspx
Try NoClone, it uses true bye-by-byte comparison. http://noclone.net/

John John,
Although I can no longer find it (was looking to see if there was an
update), I did find the program "Duplicate Filefinder" (which was free) was
excellent for what I wanted.
It would seem that the site http://dff.nazrashid.com/doesn't appear to
bring me to the site for that software anymore. However, Tucows has a
slightly earlier version available than what I have for those who would
still want such a utility.
Anyway ... just thought i'd say thanks to you both for your leads.

I've recovered files from a formatted drive, but there are a
bazillion (only slight exageration) files that are duplicated into
various folders. It's an arduous task to find the duplicates for
deletion. They are all on the same drive at this time.
Any tricks or utilities out there, that will do a check for dups
