In XP i have been getting a weird problem where the local area
connection
keeps on disconnecting and reconnecting . It started on one machine
and the
others were ok now it has progressed to all of the machines(all
running XP).
I thought virus but i have scanned them multiple times and no viruses
are
found. It also started to affect my newest machine and recently my dvd
drive
on the newest machine has stopped working correctly. I have updated
drivers
and bios on the motherboard and dvd installed the new Nforce 4 package
but
still no joy the DVD is recognised but it wont eject or when a disc is
inserted using a manual open it deos not recognise the disc . When the
computer reboots the drive light flashes but the system hangs if the
eject
button is pushed the light dies and the computer proceeds to install
ok. The
DVD is a cr40 shuttle( shows up on device manager as ATAPI DD DVD and
the
motherboard is a A8n32 sli delux. AV is norton AV 7. All of the
problems
seemed to start after a windows update ( set to auto)
So in short
1) Does the repeated network connection/ disconnection problem have a
solution.
2) Has the DVD gone to god or is it a problem with the motherboard
bios
recognising the drive correctly.
Thanks for your Help
This paragraph reads as if you have misconfigured power options for your
needs.
Also for best performance the CMOS/BIOS settings _should_ be
reconfigured
after a BIOS flash.
