This may be a serious hardware problem. PC now restarts before completing
boot sequence...

Oh, too bad, ok what about Last known good configuration from the Advanced
Options menu - where safe mode is. Does that work? If so and you can get
back in, do a system restore, but I doubt this will work.
If not then the next option is doing a repair install.

All updates will need to be reapplied through windows update.
Will it boot from the XP CD?
