Did it still not works.Last known working configuration carshes too at boot up. Of course I have no image of my windows. damn. Maybe I should expect next time the worst while installing patches from Microsoft. Try a repair install. I have learned my lesson. Install patches from Microsoft never when they are offered new. They corrupt yur computer. That's the reason why no vista is on my computer. LOL

Attempt "Safe Mode" - Last known working Configuration. Press F8
( repetitively, @1-sec intervals ) between you BIOS boot screen and
the appearance of the XP Flag to enter Safe Mode's menu.

The security updates from today have crashed my computer. I cannot even boot up anymore in normal mode. The computer hangs on windows boot up screen. How can I undo all the security updates. The system recovery is deactivated, so I cannot use it to undo all of the patches. Any ideas.

You should take away a lesson from this, but from what you have written you are not assimilating the right one. Problems with a computer and data loss are an issue of when, not if. Whether it's driver corruption or a failed install (windows update or any other software), or hardware failure or a momentary power glitch, sh*t happens.

A savvy computer user plans for this and has redundant recovery mechanisms in place. System restore can be useful when properly maintained. You should regularly backup the registry using a program like ERUNT. Create regular backups using a drive imaging program so the system can be quickly restored. Have redundancy in backups. If you focus on one mechanism for possible problems you loose sight of the importance of having a disaster recovery plan in place.
