Thank you for your suggestion. I contacted the publisher by long distance,
and spent over 30 minutes on the phone, and was given instructions as to how
to create aSystemSnapshot and email it to them. This is supposed to help
them to decide if they will give me a refund of the money that I paid for
the upgrade.

I have a Compaq Presario SR1710NX, running Windows XP Service Pack 2.

I already hadSystemMechanic6Proinstalled in my computer, and when
SystemMechanic7Prowas offered, I paid Iolo the required fee, and
downloaded the installation file for the new version.
I uninstalledSystemMechanic6Pro, and turned off my MacAfee Virus Scan
and McAfee Firewall as instructed.
When I attempt to installSystemMechanic7Pro, it begins "Detecting
Internet Settings", then begins "Checking for updates". At that point,
the
installation program completely locks up.
I have to use CTR+ALT+DELETE in order to shut it down.
Does anyone have any idea as to why this program is giving me the problem?
I have been in touch with Iolo Tech Support, but they have not been able

Please give me any help that you can. I can be reached at

If lolo tech support is unable to assist with your problem, perhaps
you should ask for a refund. I've run into several programs over the
years that when upgraded turned out to be less functional than the
previous version. And sometimes problematic. (as you have found
out). Your best bet for getting help is from the publisher. (lolo)- Hide quoted text -

Did you have any luck? I just installed version 7 (not an upgrade) and
it seems very buggy, crashes, has spoiled my computer in general I
would say. The personal firewall is useless so I went back to the
Windows firewall, it cannot load virus definitions - at least I get
this error message every time I boot up. I contacted their help and am
still waiting for a real response, not just an email directing me to
their help pages.
