RE: Home Page

Tech Tip: Click here to run a free scan for Windows Errors and optimize PC performance

What the updates they are waiting for you to download?.
Did you typed in the Home page manually in the Home page URL link?.
Try this:
Run Disk Clean up on your Disk and Reboot .
Do you have any of these runing in the background to protect from changing
any thing by third-party software?.
See the options for Ntlguard and the others.
You may have toolbar installed try to scan by using this tool:
And also for malwares from here:
http://www.lavasoft.com/products/ad-aware_se_personal.php
http://www.safer-networking.org ; for Spybot S&D

After updating and run a scan see if you could change the Home page.

Good luck, in either cases report back with the exact messages or any
warring and do you have a third-party can block you from changing the Home
Page like ZA, Norton, Ad-Aware, Spybot, spysweeper, spybalster..etc.
You can change the options in their configuration to allow you change the
Home page that if you have such a software.

if you Hit the Icon Home on your browser you will get your home page
back or click on General tab and Retype your Home page Address/URL and click
[Apply] then [OK].
If not then Open a run command and type in:
regedit.exe and click [OK] on the Registry Editor locate the following:
Change the Home page in the following KEYS:
Click on *Main*
[+]HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main.

and look in Right Pane/Window and Locate *Start Page* Right
Click on it and select Modify and enter the Data say for ex;
http://www.microsoft.com as your Home page and then Locate also this *Local
Page* and Right Click on it and select Modify and put the following;
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\blank.htm

The same with this KEY:
[+] HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main
On the *Start Page* change it into http://www.microsoft.com

Leave the *Local Page* as it is if it have this string of Data:
http://www.microsoft.com/isapi/redir.dll?prd={SUB_PRD}...... etc

Close the Registry and Reboot your computer.
