Why are you posting this to me, I'm not the one with the problem.

Your right ROCK-I never should have addressed this issue directly to you,I
will avoid posting for your sake and try to elicit help from friendly
members. Why should I bother you with my personal problems? This forum has no
business asking for aid with problems. My apologies.

admistrator acct. was not listed at user choice sign in. i had same
problem.
i did f-10 restore to factory did not creat an acct with my name added my
wife and son left mine as admin. on user chice sign admin is me so i have
no
problems. sounds crazy but it worked for me. i let all have admin rights.

I am hoping that someone may offer a solution to this
problem,HP/Compaq is not useful (I know, old news). Out of the box this
Compaq xp/sp2 media Ed.2005 PC would not let me change/copy my own
files.
It
said I was logged in as Administrator, but in reality, I had rights
between
Limited and Admin. All files were going to Compaq_Admin. Going the
safemode/doc's-settings-security/owner I did the best I could to get
ownership and suceeded. It was not till later I found that I got a
"Creating
of temp.folder...access denied..%path%..C:\ " and so on would appear
not
after downloading but when it was time to Install. Even a Norton CD
would
load
then fail as an error. Doing a recovery would just bring back the
original
"Bad" settings. I also noticed that going to the Security Center, I get
just
3
options to click on, not the options with the drop down boxes. Is that
indicative of a "Limited" user? On the installing side,I thought maybe
they
were being fed to me,since I took ownership, rather than to the
Compaq_Admin.

You're post is hard to understand, but if this is a new system and it did
it
right out of the box, why not contact HP/Compaq tech support?
