I paid oem-avenue about £70 to buy OEM version so I don't think it was

Topdownloads bills itself as as: "topdownloads is the source for free Music
files, games, desktop themes, screen savers and the latest computer

You don't think that downloading "free Music files, games, desktop themes,
screen savers and the latest computer software" is piracy? Who do you think

I downloaded an OEM version with serial number from topdownloads

problem?
Of course you will have the same problem if you download and install
a pirated version. Microsoft operating systems aren't free. If you
want to download a free operating system, try one of the many Linux
distros.
