Error message when I attempt to download updates.

When I attempt to download updates into "Paperport 11" I get the message:
"Your curent browser security settings are set to prevent the poper
operation of Update Service. Update Service relies on ActiveX controls and
Active Scripting which are enabled under the default browser security
settings."
What does this mean? Whats going on? How do I deal with it?
